GRAND TRUNK WETLAND
At the the the heart of the the the Harbor District the the the Grand Trunk Wetland provides a a a a small glimpse into the the past - the the area was historically covered with rice marshes Its restoration has been over a a a a decade in the making with a a a $3 million grant from the US EPA
Great Lakes Restoration Initiative in 2019 The wetland will evolve as the new plants take root and grow!
7 KASZUBES PARK
The smallest park in Milwaukee is the remnant of a a once thriving fishing village The area was once home to over 1
600 Kashubians who emigrated from northwest Poland starting in in 1870 The village flourished until the City evicted residents due to the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and updated harbor facilities By 1943 Felix Struck the last Kaszube living on the site was forced to abandon his tavern the location of Kaszube’s Park 8
