Join Harbor District and the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center for an afternoon full of Insect exploration!
Participants get the chance to be explorers and researchers. Catch crazy insects using our sweep nets then help us identify. Learn about the importance of insects in our environment and how they impact our own lives. Plus, you’ll get a chance to get dirty and take a goodie home with you.
This event is part of a larger “Insectaggedon” – a two-day worldwide collective celebration of insects and pollinators – led by The High Line and artist Cecilia Vicuña. Culminating the High Line’s month-long horticulture celebration, Celebrating Insects on the High Line, Insectageddon seeks to both reflect on and raise awareness for our interconnectedness with the insect world.
